Thanks to Mrs. Annie and King Cotton, we’ve been able to host weekly sewing classes for Lovelady graduates every Tuesday. What began as a fun activity has become life-changing for one graduate in particular.
Wendy Yates, a Lovelady alumna, had always loved sewing. But during her years of addiction, she lost her hearing due to an abusive relationship and believed her dream of pursuing sewing as a career was gone forever.
Yet God had other plans. Through one of our sewing workshops, Wendy’s passion was reignited. She shared, “This has been the highlight of my year.”
Today, Wendy is thriving—creating bags and other products for Portraits of Hope, along with contract work through Annie. Her journey is a powerful reminder of how community, opportunity, and faith can spark new hope and restore lost dreams.
